Millions of skateboard decks are discarded annually, ending up in landfill due to a toxic chemical used in the adhesives that glue the seven layers of maple plywood together. The Sidekick is created from discarded skateboard decks, reclaimed glass and an old table leg.
This project was centered around the art of upcycling. It is universal, meaning that no matter where you live, or how much money you have, anyone can be an up-cycler. It transcends cultures and I believe should be brought into the light of the every day consumer.
